The Personalised Career Employment Program (PCEP) is a structured, one-on-one coaching program designed to help you take focused, confident steps toward employment, training, or career clarity—within just three months. 

Delivered by The BUSY Group’s ADF Transition Support Services, PCEP combines expert coaching with practical tools to help you translate your Defence experience and enter the civilian workforce with momentum. 

This isn’t just about getting job-ready—it’s about getting results. 

 

What's Included?

PCEP moves with purpose. You and your coach will work through key focus areas that build your clarity, confidence, and readiness to act. 

Career Planning

  • Explore industries and roles based on your background, goals and location 
  • Define a clear career or training path 
  • Align your strengths with current market opportunities 

Document Development

  • Create a professional resumé and cover letter
  • Refine your LinkedIn profile
  • Practice responding to selection criteria for public and private sector roles

Strategic Coaching

  • Set achievable milestones with guidance from your coach 
  • Identify training or certification gaps 
  • Develop your civilian pitch and value proposition 

Employer Preparation

  • Build interview confidence through mock sessions
  • Learn how to navigate job offers, rejections or pivot
  • Gain insights into different industries and workplace expectations 

Individual Modules Overview

  • Introduction to PCEP: Overview of the program’s objectives and available resources. Introduces participants to the TESS Hub for access to tools, e-learning modules, and tracking progress.
  • PCEP Develop Career Goals: (Establishes short- and long-term career objectives based on individual strengths, interests, and aspirations. Coaches help participants align their goals with actionable pathways, such as employment, education, or volunteering.
  • PCEP Competency and Capability Mapping: Identifies transferable skills gained during military service and matches them to civilian roles. Addresses any skill gaps through tailored pathways, including Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or upskilling opportunities.
  • PCEP Resume and Job Search Skills: Step-by-step guidance on crafting professional resumes and cover letters using TESS Hub tools. Focuses on tailoring applications to specific roles and optimising resumes for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Teaches strategies for navigating job boards and the hidden job market.
  • PCEP Personal Branding and Marketing: Helps participants build a strong personal brand, highlighting their unique skills and experience. Covers professional networking strategies and optimising online presence through platforms like LinkedIn.
  • PCEP Interview Skills: Develops confidence and techniques for successful interviews, including: Preparing for behavioural questions using the STAR framework. Refining personal presentation and communication skills. Mock interviews provide practical experience and feedback.
  • PCEP Negotiation Skills: Teaches participants how to navigate salary negotiations, job offers, and workplace conditions. Focuses on building confidence to advocate for personal and professional needs.
  • PCEP Connecting Participants to Civilian Opportunities: Explores pathways to employment, volunteering, and education that align with individual goals. Coaches provide referrals and connections to industry programs, veteran networks, and job boards.
  • Managing Wellbeing Through Transition: This video addresses the psychological and emotional challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Offers strategies to manage stress, maintain motivation, and foster a sense of purpose during career
    changes.

How it Works

1. Get Referred

Once you’re referred to PCEP, you’ll be matched with a dedicated Career Coach from The BUSY Group. 

2. Set Your Plan

You’ll co-design a 3-month action plan that suits your goals and schedule. 

3. Stay on Track

Through regular coaching sessions (phone, video, or in-person), your coach will help you keep momentum and make tangible progress. 

4. Access Online Support

Between sessions, use the TESS Hub—our online platform—to access templates, guides, and eLearning.

PCEP is ideal for:

  • Current serving ADF members who are transitioning from Defence within 4 months
  • Recently transitioned members seeking employment, training or meaningful engagement
  • Anyone ready to take action and benefit from guided, structured support 

You don’t need to know your destination—you just need to be ready to start moving.
