Career Transition Coaching

Enhance your transition experience with dedicated coaching.

Looking for help to develop your transition pathway? Our Career Transition Specialists are here to guide you through a range of post-transition options, including employment, education, volunteering and retirement.

Your coach will collaborate with you to

  • discover your motivators, skills and post-ADF goals
  • tailor a pathway to transition
  • equip you with the skills to embark on your chosen path
  • provide ongoing guidance and support.

Along with one-on-one coaching, you will have access to a range of development modules tailored to help you succeed on your chosen transition pathway.

Job Search Preparation

Learn how to position yourself in the job market.

Want to learn more about the civilian job market and your post-ADF employment options? The Job Search Preparation Workshop is a great place to start. Presented over two days, this future-focused workshop is designed to equip you with the skills to support your transition from the military to civilian employment.

Learn how to:

  • categorise your work style
  • market your transferrable skills
  • create and maintain a resumé 
  • build your personal brand
  • utilise online professional networking platforms
  • locate suitable jobs
  • write a cover letter and submit a job application
  • participate in a job interview.

The workshop can be accessed by request of the Joint Transition Authority team, you can email transition.support@defence.gov.au to request referral to the program. No matter where you are along your transition journey, our dedicated Career Development Facilitators will tailor the workshop sessions to align with your career goals.

Personalised Career Employment Program

Short term intensive 1-1 coaching to help you find your new career.

This program provides three months of intensive coaching with our specialists to build your skills in resumé and cover letters, job applications, interviews and negotiation for your next employment contract. The program is combined with the support of our recruitment partner who can directly link you to employers you would like to work with.

You’ll start your three-month support program by connecting with a dedicated BUSY Mentor who will help you to develop and implement your post-ADF Career Transition Plan. The next step is to collaborate with your BUSY Recruitment Partner to actively market yourself to civilian opportunities.

From identifying your skills and work capacity, through to building your personal brand and engaging in work placements, this supportive program is designed to lead you on a journey from self-understanding to securing meaningful civilian employment or engagement.

Transition for Meaningful Engagement (T4ME)

One to one specialist coaching support to assist you in your transition journey.

Need specialist transition support? The Transition for Meaningful Engagement (T4ME) program assists ADF members with complex medical conditions in moving from the ADF to meaningful civilian employment or engagement.

Our T4ME Specialists understand that every day in recovery can present its own set of challenges. Which is why you’ll receive tailored, one-to-one support from your T4ME specialist throughout your transition journey.

Together, you will:

  • identify transferrable skills and career drivers
  • explore meaningful post-ADF pathways
  • determine vocational goals
  • build resilience and capability
  • pursue new opportunities
  • focus on social connection and wellbeing activities

This 12-month program provides you with mentoring, links to any required rehabilitation and allied health services, and guidance through and after your transition from the Australian Defence Force.

Partner Employment Assistance Program (PEAP)

The Partner Employment Assistance Program (PEAP) acknowledges the dedication and sacrifices of ADF members and their families, as well as the unique challenges ADF partners encounter in maintaining a career while supporting their loved one’s service.

In partnership with a dedicated BUSY PEAP Advisor, you will create a Personalised Employability Package tailored to your specific employment needs.

Learn how to:

  • identify transferrable skills
  • maximise your experience
  • build your personal brand
  • get to know the civilian job market
  • practise, prepare and apply for jobs

Along with providing you access to a range of development modules to increase your employability, your PEAP Advisor will regularly check-in to provide guidance and support.
